Witness

Anchor Scripture: Mark 16: 15-18

Introduction

Our anchor scripture reminds us of two powerful truths: God equips His people, and He intends to do mighty things through us. In light of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, what does this mean for us today? How should it shape the way we witness? And how do we ensure we’re faithfully continuing the ministry of reconciliation entrusted to us?

Key Reflections

Christianity Is a Lifestyle, Not a Label

Christianity goes beyond religion. It’s a way of life — one that must reflect Jesus at every turn. Our lives should embody His presence so deeply that people see Him through us. Being a witness isn’t always about standing on a street corner; sometimes, it’s about living with intentionality and letting Christ be seen in everyday moments.

Witnessing from Wherever You Are

“Go into all the world” doesn’t only mean bus preaching or street evangelism. Your job, your family, your online platform, the entertainment industry — all these are worlds you’ve been sent into. Witnessing happens there too. We need to be open and adaptable. Some people are called to the streets, others to music, prayer, caring for animals, or sharing testimonies. Find your passion and calling, then go for it. Just be sure you’re doing the work.

Let’s Not Overcomplicate It

Everyday people can do everyday witnessing — through testimonies, social media, conversations, and simple acts of kindness. God confirms His Word, not our performance. You don’t have to do it the “churchy” way for it to count.

Discipline and Growth Matter

We hone our professional skills, yet often neglect to grow as better witnesses. We need to be more intentional about study, prayer, and seeking understanding. Effective witnessing takes growth, maturity, and a heart that’s willing to learn. Study outside of church. Spend time in the Word personally. That’s where the Holy Spirit brings revelation and equips us.

The Church Must Teach, Not Just Preach

Many churches focus heavily on preaching but don’t always equip the saints through solid teaching. But who is the Church? We are. So we must also take responsibility for seeking knowledge and sharing it in relatable, accessible ways — not just throwing scripture at people but breaking it down in ways they can understand.

Purpose and Obedience Are Connected

At whatever level you are, you can minister to people. Don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Someone else’s breakthrough might be tied to your obedience. What if your delay is keeping someone from meeting Christ

Witness by the Spirit, Not Just Strategy

The Holy Spirit will sometimes nudge you — follow His lead. Be adaptable. Start with encouragement. Build relationships. Look for natural, Spirit-led moments to witness. Don’t ignore those nudges; they’re often the beginning of powerful encounters.

God Can Use Anyone and Anything

From Balaam’s donkey to your pet, God isn’t limited in how He works. Pray over your animals. Speak life over your home. Let the anointing on you affect everything around you — even the “small” things.

Apostles in the Marketplace

Not everyone is called to a pulpit, and that’s okay. We have apostles in the marketplace. Whatever your sphere — business, art, media, family — let that be your field. Be intentional there.

Don't Feel Guilty — Just Be Faithful

If you're not hitting the streets, don’t feel bad. Just make sure that wherever you are, you’re doing the work. Be conscious about your role as a witness, and carry the awareness that you represent Christ in all things.

Final Charge

We are all witnesses. Whether it’s through our words, actions, choices, or presence — we reflect Jesus. So let’s be equipped, stay grounded in the Word and prayer, and be led by the Spirit. Wherever we are, let’s witness.
